Do you want to fast this Lent?

  • Fast from hurting words and say kind words
  • Fast from sadness and be filled with gratitude
  • Fast from anger and be filled with patience
  • Fast from pessimism and be filled with hope
  • Fast from worries and have trust in God
  • Fast from complaints and contemplate simplicity
  • Fast from pressures and be prayerful
  • Fast from bitterness and fill your hearts with joy
  • Fast from selfishness and be compassionate to others
  • Fast from grudges and be reconciled
  • Fast from words and be silent so you can listen.

I just randomly found this on the floor but I thought it was PERFECT for this Lent. I know a lot of people feel like they don’t have the time/energy to put in to fast meat/dairy/fish etc (if you’re Greek Orthodox), or if you’re Catholic to give up something. But fasting is just a physical way of showing an inner manifestation. Giving up a food is only to cleanse your soul and your inner spirit. It’s to start to realize what’s important and what we can live without. So by being more engaged in our emotions, our conversations, our reactions, we are able to make a change that is bigger than us.
